Born in 1935, McKendry came to prominence in the 1950’s as a sculptor of international repute when he was commissioned to execute many large ornate sculptures which adorn public buildings throughout the world to this day. In the early 1960’s he was commissioned to design and execute the sixty two foot Ulster American War Memorial which was unveiled by Her Majesty , Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother in 1962. Today, McKendry’s original paintings-for which Hanton Fine Arts Limited retain the exclusive publishing rights-are much admired and sought after by art collectors and connoisseurs worldwide and his works and featured in many private collections and exhibitions throughout the world.
